I find it quite amusing, this idea that veganism is a bourgeois thing. Over the past nine years, I've been subjected to countless moral lectures from Western white people about how classist it is to say it's easy for the vast majority of people and that they're just hiding behind excuses to avoid admitting they don't give a damn. Every time I say I'm North African and live in the Maghreb, where plant-based alternatives (vegan steaks, ice cream, vegan cheeses, sausages, etc.) aren't sold, assuming I have the money to buy them, I'm met with a blissful silence. That's when the true discourse of privilege is on full display.
I'll always find it funny, by the way, that with such a large French-speaking population, the French automatically assume they're talking to other French people. It's like when they politely tell you that because of your speech, Bardella is going to be elected xD
